You won’t get that new fingerprint sensor, or the new 64-bit A7 chip. The newly improved camera isn’t included either – this is just a simple vinyl decal that mimics the look of the new iPhone 5S – in Gold, Silver or Space Grey. As well as changing the colour of the rear of the phone, you’ll also get the look of that new stainless steel ring around the home button.
The upgrade kit is simple to use – you’ll just apply a vinyl decal to each side of your iPhone, then add the fingerprint sensor ring around your home button. As this is a thin piece of vinyl measuring less than 1 millimetre, you’ll still be able to use all your existing iPhone 5 cases and accessories, including docks, stands and chargers. The vinyl is precision cut to ensure a perfect fit, complementing the contours and design of the iPhone 5. Of course, all buttons, ports and the camera remain fully operational.
The Upgrade Kit is available in three colours, matching that of the new iPhone 5S. The conservative champagne coloured Gold has proven the most popular colour so far, with Space Grey offering a slightly lighter look than the earlier black model iPhone 5. Silver remains the same colour as it was on the iPhone 5, so you’ll only need to add a fingerprint sensor to get the full effect.
