The waterproof Galaxy S4 Active ships tomorrow from Mobile Fun

The Samsung Galaxy S4 is the most popular Android phone of the year, and now it’s gotten even better with the release of the Samsung Galaxy S4 Active. This phone takes the best parts of the S4 – the amazing screen, great performance, and abundance of software tricks – and combines them with a new dustproof and waterproof chassis.

The S4 Active is much more rugged than the standard plasticky S4, and it feels like it could take a few hits without damage. That dust and waterproofing matches that of the Sony Xperia Z, meaning the phone will survive an accidental dunk in the sink or an purposeful dunk in the pool. What’s more, the S4 Active is optimised for underwater photography – there’s even a special Aqua Mode that’ll allow you to take beautiful shots while fully immersed.

Usually waterproofed or rugged devices have some downsides compared to the standard model, but that’s not the case with the S4 Active. You’ll get the same powerful Snapdragon 600 quad-core processor, 4G LTE support for the UK’s fastest mobile networks and the latest version of Android, 4.2.2 Jelly Bean.

The only real changes are the screen – which has changed from AMOLED to LCD – and the camera – which has been slightly downgraded from 13 to 8 megapixels. According to The Verge and other critics, neither of these changes are noticeable in normal use.

The Galaxy S4 Active goes on sale tomorrow from Mobile Fun. To order the phone, as well as find the latest pricing and availability information, check out the product page linked below:
