Netgear Push2TV Wireless Display Adapter

The Netgear Push2TV Wireless Display Adapter is a little box that lets you stream video and audio from your smartphone, tablet or laptop to your HDTV. The stream’s good quality too – up to Full HD 1080p and 5.1 surround sound, depending on your source.

The Push2TV’s big advantage is that it’s so easy to set up – just plug the box into your TV’s HDMI port, then power it using your TV’s USB port or a nearby plug socket.

Then it’s just a case of pushing your media wirelessly onto the box, which can be done through Intel WiDi or Miracast – which is available on laptops and Ultrabooks from most manufacturers, as well as modern Sony, Samsung and LG smartphones (including the Sony Xperia Z, Google Nexus 4 and Samsung Galaxy S3, S4 and Note II). For a list of supported devices, check out this list.

The Netgear Push2TV is great because you avoid the wires and powered adapters usually associated with display mirroring. That means you can sit comfortably at a reasonable distance from the box, instead of being tethered to a metre long cable. It also means that you can easily charge your device, have it in a case, or use it with other accessories – something that isn’t always possible when using a cable.

The Push2TV is green too, using less than 2 watts when streaming HD video.

So if you’ve got a compatible device and you’re looking for an easy way to play games, watch videos or indeed mirror anything at all on a display wirelessly, then this is what you need: the Netgear Push2TV Wireless Display Adapter. I’m definitely thinking of picking up one myself – seems like an ideal Samsung Galaxy S4 accessory!
