5. PDair Leather Flip Case for Google Nexus 4 – Black
Our first case is this Leather Flip Case from PDair. One thing I liked right away about this case was how firmly the phone was held in place – with two strong arms on the sides and some complementary hooks at the top, my Nexus 4 was not sliding out at all! The leather felt of good quality and looked neat and professional, with fine white stitching. Overall, a nice case if you’re a fan of leather and the vertical flip form factor.
4. FlexiShield Skin for Google Nexus 4 – Clear
This FlexiShield case is stylish and protective, with a sleek futuristic look thanks to the clear bezel. The case is quite thin, and adds little bulk to the device, but should still be quite effective at preventing damage due to scratches or drops. Sadly, you can’t see the nice holographic pattern on the rear of the phone, but you do ensure that the vulnerable rear glass is covered. A simple and inexpensive protective option.
3. PDair TPU Protective Case for Google Nexus 4 – Blue
The PDair TPU Protective Case was probably my favourite looking case out of these top 5, offering a sweet wave design on the back. The case was flexible like the previous FlexiShield Skin, but still felt more than enough to handle scratches and short drops. The blue colour of the case that I tried matched my phone quite nicely, and definitely seems the best option if you’re on a budget.
2. Leather Style Wallet / Stand Case for Google Nexus 4 – Black
This was definitely the most functional case on the list, offering both wallet and stand functionality on top of protection. While you pay the price of added bulk, if you made use of both features I feel it’d be worthwhile. The stand is landscape orientation, making it good for watching YouTube videos, and seems quite sturdy although you don’t get a choice of orientation. The wallet section is also useful, with room for three cards including a transparent photo ID pocket. There’s also a pocket behind these cards for cash money. All in all, a very capable case.
1. ArmourDillo Hybrid Protective Case for Google Nexus 4 – Blue
This was by far my favourite case of the ones I looked at. From the silly name to the unique look of this case, I was impressed with the ArmourDillo. The case is a combination of an inner TPU case, granting flexibility and grip, and an outer impact resistant exoskeleton. The case is thicker than a standard TPU case, but it feels as though it could withstand much greater impacts and that makes it worthwhile. The bonus feature of the ArmourDillo is the stand embedded on the back. Although a little stiff to keep going, the stand offers a great deal of stability and again is in landscape orientation, making it perfect for consuming media like movies and books. All in all, a top quality case that offers a good blend of looks, protection and functionality.
