Nook HD and HD+ accessories coming to Mobile Fun

American book sellers Barnes & Noble have moved onto proper Android tablets with their new Nook HD and Nook HD+ tablets. The new tablets, which are similar in purpose to the Google Nexus 7 and the Kindle Fire HD, look quite tempting thanks to a few key upgrades over their rivals. Let’s have a look.

Nook HD

The Nook HD is the equivalent to the Nexus 7 or the Kindle Fire HD 7. As you’d guess, it’s a 7″ tablet but it has a much better screen than is available on either of its rivals – an impressive 1440 x 900, compared to 1280 x 800 of the others. It’s also lighter than both, weighing just 315 grams. The design also includes a wider range of ports than the Nexus 7, with options for HDMI out and micro SD storage. This means you can store more media on the tablet and watch that media on your HDTV or monitor.

Nook HD+

If you’re liking the sound of the Nook HD but you’d like to watch full HD films, then the Nook HD+ is the way to go. It’s a 9″ tablet, making it a little smaller than an iPad, but it has a super impressive 1920 x 1280 resolution that’ll work perfectly with full HD content including films, games, YouTube and more. If you’re a power user, then this is the tablet you want.

Barnes & Noble

Both tablets have full, tightly integrated access to the Barnes & Noble ecosystem of books, movies, TV and apps. The selection isn’t quite as big as Amazon or Google’s, but still is more than enough for most purposes. The app store is growing particularly rapidly, as it’s very easy to port apps from the giant Google Play marketplace.

Accessories

Of course, we’re bringing in a wide range of accessories to fit these new tablets. We have both Nook HD accessories and Nook HD+ accessories pages already populated with a range of cases, covers, screen protectors, car holders and chargers. For instance, we have a Nook HD+ case from Cool Bananas that should fit perfectly in a gorgeous red colour. We’ll be bringing more accessories online in the coming days, as we await the release of the tablets in mid November.
