I think the first thing about the SmartGuy is that it looks unique, nicely straddling the line between professional and cool. The traditional brown-coloured leather with detailed stitching is complemented with an attention-grabbing mustard stripe, giving the case an interesting look. In the hand, the case feels solid and dependable, with the genuine leather construction making it noticeably more durable.
Of course, a case that looks good but completely fails functionally is no good. Thankfully, the Cool Bananas case delivers on this front too, with a clever design that provides the traditional slim flip design while still including a few extras like a card slot.
The Cool Bananas SmartGuy is also quite a protective case, with the tough leather providing a suitable barrier against drops and scratches alike. While you won’t have the full protection afforded by a dual or triple layer construction, you also have a much slimmer design than these type of tough cases. The SmartGuy’s microfibre inner material gently cleans and protects the screen from scratches, a useful addition on a case like this.
