Today’s useful item of the day: Micro USB Charging Cable Splitter

Here’s something handy – a micro USB splitter cable. This will allow you to charge two micro USB devices at once, from the same micro USB power source, saving you time and socket space.

Obviously each cable will get only a portion of the available charge – so if you’re charging from USB (500 mA) each will only get a very small amount. If you’re charging from a wall socket that’s providing 1A though, you’re getting 500 mA each – the equivalent of two USB ports. From a more heavy duty charger built for tablets you might get 2.1A, which splits quite nicely into 1A each for two phones. Of course you can also charge your phone and a smaller item simultaneously – like a Bluetooth headset, Kindle or FM transmitter.
