Adonit announce upcoming Jot Touch pressure-sensitive stylus

Serious stylus users have found current capacitive styluses lacking on mobile devices so far – there’s no pressure sensitivity, meaning that it’s impossible to draw naturally. Instead, you have to keep switching line thickness manually.

The Adonit Jot Touch fixes that problem, connecting to your tablet or smartphone over Bluetooth in order to transmit pressure sensor data and even a more accurate on-screen position. This makes the Jot Touch an advancement beyond anything we’ve seen from a capacitive stylus before, as you’ll be able to produce digital art as easily as you would on a dedicated drawing tablet.

Of course, not all apps will support the additional information at first, but Adonit is working with developers to provide an easy-to-implement SDK that will allow this functionality to be added. Adonit have already ensured the functionality will work with a number of popular apps (as you can see above), and if this takes off expect quick adoption from other developers.

What do you think of the idea? All of my artist friends have been waiting for this for a long time, so I hope it’s as exciting for you as it is for them. We’ll be sure to bring you more details on the Adonit Jot Touch as we receive them, including a price and release date.

Thanks for reading and have a good one!
