Purity By Monster: Nokia Takes On The Headphone World

Along with the announcement of the flagship Windows phone Lumia series and the low-cost Asha line, Nokia CEO Stephen Elop also announced a new collaboration with Beats Audio producers Monster.

The joint effort, which is called Purity By Monster, is a stylish line of premium headphones for Nokia phones. There are two models available initially;  in-ear and on-ear headphones. Each is available in black, white, cyan and magenta.

The in-ear model is called Nokia Purity Stereo Headset by Monster. They’re rather nice looking, and include the standard complement of different ear bud sizes to ensure a good fit. Like other premium phone ear buds, they also include an inline remote that can provide call controls as well as volume adjustment. The remote also includes a microphone, so you can take calls without having to unplug the headphones.

The on-ear model is the Nokia Purity HD Stereo Headset by Monster. (I’m not sure if HD has any meaningful definition for sound, particularly as these aren’t surround sound headphones). They have the same in-line remote, but feature much more substantial ovaloid cans.

Commercials were produced for both models, and they’re nicely produced so I’ve linked them below.

‘Lara Turk – Ballerina’

‘Kendal Sant – Rocker’

What do you think of the new headphones? Good premium Lumia 800 accessories, or just another overpriced brand name? Let us know via the comments or on Facebook or Twitter!
