It’s finally happened. After several reports of fires with supposedly safe replacement Note 7 models, Samsung has issued a worldwide recall of all Note 7 models and will stop selling or producing the phone.

If you have a Note 7, you should immediately stop using it, turn it off and return it to your retailer for a refund or replacement with a different model. You can contact Samsung’s customer service team on 0330 7261000, or contact your mobile carrier or retailer for instructions.

If you like the Note 7, then the Galaxy S7 Edge might be a good replacement, but there are tons of other great phones on the market from a range of manufacturers including the iPhone 7 / 7S, OnePlus 3 and Google Pixel / Pixel XL.

Oculus disables Gear VR for Note 7 owners

Oculus has also gotten into the game, updating the Gear VR software to prevent its use with the Note 7. Here’s the message that displays if a Note 7 is used:

Customer safety is Oculus’ top priority. Oculus is removing support for all Note 7 devices on the Oculus platform. Until further notice, Note7 devices will not be compatible with the Gear VR. For more information regarding the Note 7, please contact Samsung directly.

The headset should work with future USB-C Galaxy phones, and can still be used with earlier Galaxy models as well (for the full list, click here).

Wrapping up

Please do return your Note 7 models, and don’t risk your safety by continuing to use them. Thanks for checking out this article.
