GeoOrbital Wheel, turns any bike into an electric bike

Cyclists rejoice! – especially those in hilly areas – Kickstarter GeoOrbital has literally reinvented the (bicycle) wheel.

We’ve all been there, even the most hardcore cyclists, you’ve got halfway up that extra steep hill, your legs are burning and it’s getting harder to breath – you just wish there was a button you could switch that would instantly transport you to the top of the hill with no extra effort.

Well now there is. And you don’t have to invest in a heavy, extremely expensive electric bike.

In just 60 seconds the GeoOrbital wheel snaps onto pretty much any bike, replacing your front wheel to provide an instant electric boost – no tools necessary.

Oh, and what an electric boost it is! Enabling you to reach speeds of up to 20mph you’ll soon be leaving other cyclists – and if its rush hour, even motorists – in your wake! Getting to work has never been easier.

The specs

The GeoOrbital wheel has been in constant R&D over the past 18 months, with practicality, speed, weight and affordability at the forefront at all times.

The 500W Brushless DC motor allows you to go from 0 to 20 mph in just 6 seconds. It’s powered by a 36v 10Ah removable Li-ion battery that lasts for 20 miles without pedaling and approximately 50 miles with pedaling.

Oh and did I mention that the built-in USB also enables you to charge your phone from it? A small but handy detail.

The wheel is a TRON-style, completely hubless wheel. It’s powered by the three smaller wheels (within the Aerospace-grade aluminium unibody) that sit inside the front wheel’s rim, they grip the inside of your wheel, propelling it forward.

To control the wheel there’s a throttle button that sits on your handlebars, which also display your bike’s remaining battery life.

Flat-proof tire

And if being super speedy wasn’t enough, the team at GeoOrbital have also ensured the wheel is flat-proof.

Made from hi-density foam it weighs around 20lb and ensures you never have to worry about getting a puncture or altering your tire pressure.
