Chinese devices giant Xiaomi announced an upgraded version of its super-cheap fitness tracker today. The new model is called the Mi Band Pulse, and it adds an optical heart rate sensor to the same slim tracker. Fitbit charge around £20 for that added functionality, but Xiaomi are only adding $3 (£2) to the cost of their fitness tracker for the same feat.
The Mi Band Pulse also reportedly does a better job at sleep tracking than its predecessor, and uses a new material for the band to prevent breakages. The Pulse has a 45mAh battery inside, which should be sufficient for around 20 days of use. Like the original Mi Band, the new model has an IP67 rating for water and dust resistance, so it should survive showering with you. The Mi Band Pulse is compatible with Android 4.4+ and iOS 7+ smartphones.
The Mi Band Pulse will cost just $16 (£10) when it goes on sale in China for Singles Day, November 11th. That’s the biggest day of online shopping worldwide, beating out even Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
We’re happy to announce that we’ll be stocking the Mi Band Pulse! Our UK price is £30; more expensive than in China but still far cheaper than similarly equipped fitness trackers on the market today.
