Google have released tons of apps for Apple’s iPhones and iPads, but Apple has never returned the favour by producing an Android app… until now. This week Apple’s Move to iOS app went live, letting users transfer data like photos, messages, Google accounts, contacts and more to their new iPhone or iPad. The app also notes which Android apps are installed, and adds apps that are also available on iOS to the user’s new iTunes wishlist, although you still have to pay for paid apps on the new platform.

The app works using Wi-Fi Direct, with a unique code ensuring that you don’t accidentally transfer all of your personal, private things to a someone else’s device accidentally. If you run into any issues, Apple have stated that you can take your devices to an Apple store… which is also probably the first time Apple have offered any troubleshooting advice for Android.

Apple have also cheekily shown off the final step in their Move to iOS app: a note reminding users that they can “recycle your Android phone for free at any Apple Store.” It’s good to know that those stores come equipped with bins, eh?

The Move to iOS app is available now on the Google Play Store for devices running Android 4.0+. It’s currently being targeted by Android fans with around 5,000 one star reviews, but most of these seem to be political rather than technical objections to the app.
