Despite the constant improvements in mobile phones, their built-in speakers seem to remain largely unchanged. As a result, the sound coming from it is usually not the most impressive feature on a smartphone, to the great dissatisfaction of audiophiles as well as of the average user. There is a range of speakers on the market, aiming to provide a simple solution for music fans on the move as well as a handsfree.
This article aims to provide a useful comparison between three quite different speakers: the SoundWave SW50 Bluetooth Speaker Phone, the Gum Rock Bluetooth Portable Suction Speaker Stand and finally the thumbsUp! Touch Speaker Boom Box.
SoundWave SW50
The SoundWave speaker is just what it looks like – a compact speaker with a sharp futuristic alien design and the capability to be used as a handsfree.
Quite easy to set up via Bluetooth, it recognised the phone from the second time. In terms of the sound, we found its quality and depth quite surprising, given how small the speaker actually is.
Gum Rock Bluetooth Portable Suction Speaker
There is more to the design of the Gum Rock speaker than the black rubber protecting it from splashes in the bathroom, kitchen or near a swimming pool (if the weather should allow it). The speaker can be used as a tablet / phone stand or it could just be stuck to a car windshield.
In relation to the sound – it may not be the greatest sounding speaker but is a significant improvement in comparison to the built-in phone speaker.
It is a significant advantage that there are control buttons, allowing you to change the tracks and the volume, ensuring that you have excellent control at your fingertips even when away from the playing device.
thumbsUp! Touch Speaker Boom Box
Although a slightly different type of speaker, as opposed to the Bluetooth SoundWave and Gum Rock, the thubsUp! speaker works instantaneously when you place your music playing device on top of it. Then it miraculously starts playing the same, only much louder and with much more depth. Setting it up is therefore hilariously easy and the sound quality is amazing. It is also astonishing that such a light boomspeaker could play that loudly and with that much bass.
Conclusion
In conclusion, all three of the speakers perform their purposes quite well and therefore we would make recommendations in accordance with the different user preferences. The thumbsUp! Touch Speaker Boom Box would be ideal for people who would rather make a compromise with the portability and the size of the speaker, rather than the sound quality. For those who are fascinated with the idea of sticking the speaker on any smooth surface or of using the speaker as a stand as well, we believe that the Gum Rock would be the best choice. Finally, as long as portability is crucial, we consider the ballance between sound quality and size to be the SoundWave SW50.
