A lower-cost iPhone has been rumoured for months, and now it seems that we’re finally close to seeing Apple announce just such a phone at one of their famous press events. The phone, expected to be called the iPhone 5C, has an all-plastic construction and slightly larger dimensions than the current iPhone 5. The phone’s lower cost should make it accessible to a new segment of the market, potentially widening the Apple userbase to segments previously only served by Windows Phone, Android and other operating systems.
While the new iPhone 5C is yet to be announced, case manufacturers already know enough about the cases to start construction of some early models.
