Nokia Lumia 620 announced, will cost just £175

Nokia announced their latest Windows Phone earlier this month: The Nokia Lumia 620. The Lumia 620, as the number would suggest, is cheaper than the Lumia 920 flagship and the Lumia 820 mid-range offering but sacrifices surprisingly little to hit a sim-free price point of just £175.

The Lumia 620 looks really nice too. It’s a small phone, with a screen size of only 3.8″, which makes it light too. At 127 grams, it’s only a bit heavier than the iPhone 5 and much lighter than its brothers. It’s available in the widest range of colours too, with lime, orange, magenta, yellow, cyan, white and black all in the mix. These can be customised with both glossy and matte colours.

The Lumia 620 runs a dual core 1 GHz Snapdragon S4 processor, 512 MB of RAM and 8 GB of internal storage, upgradeable by up to 64 GB of micro SD card storage. That’s only a little less powerful than the best Windows Phone 8 handsets on the market. There’s also a 5 megapixel rear camera, a 0.3 megapixel front-facer and 1300 mAh battery. All in all, it’s a surprisingly capable package for such a low price.

Another big plus for the Lumia 620 is its operating system. It’s able to run the full version of Windows Phone 8, and includes all of the great apps that Nokia have developed for the rest of the Lumia phones on the market. That includes Cinemagraph animated photos, Smart Shoot for taking the best photos of your friends and even an augmented reality info app in City Lens.

We’re expecting the Lumia 620 to be a strong seller, so we’ll certainly be picking up quite a few Nokia Lumia 620 accessories for the new handset once it launches in January next year. While our virtual shelves are fairly bare at the moment, we’ll sure they’ll soon fill up with all manner of Nokia Lumia 620 cases and covers, Nokia Lumia 620 chargers, and all manner of other accessories.
