Smart watches are the latest mobile phenomenon, offering easy wrist-based access to your mobile and more. Just last week, the Pebble e-paper smart watch eclipsed 6 million dollars of funding on Kickstarter, and the project still has 24 days of fundraising to go. The Pebble won’t be available until September this year and costs a rather massive $150. If you’d prefer something less pricey and available right now, then the Sony SmartWatch might be just the ticket.Unlike the Pebble, the SmartWatch includes a full colour multi-touch display that’s visible at any lighting level. It’s also compatible with all Android handsets running Gingerbread or higher – you don’t need a Sony smartphone for this to work! The SmartWatch looks fantastic too, whether on its default black band or on any 20mm wrist band.
The SmartWatch has a strong development community behind it who have already produced a number of apps, and it ships with Clock, Twitter, Music, Email and Weather apps. It’s a rather clever Android smart watch, and definitely worth a look if you’re fed up with having to pull your phone out of your pocket to view incoming notifications, skip tracks or just have a look at the time.
