Sony Xperia S First Review Released

The very first review for the Sony Xperia S, the first phone to be released by the newly consolidated Sony Mobile group, has been published by The Verge.

The sim-free Sony Xperia S, which will be sold unlocked by Mobile Fun, scored very highly in the review for its pixel-dense 4.3″ HD display and powerful (and quick) 12 megapixel Exmor R camera. The handset’s industrial design was also praised, with the clean lines and sharp edges making for a rather dashing look phone. Inside, the phone also impresses with ample storage and powerful dual-core Snapdragon CPU.

There is one down side to picking up the Xperia S though – it’ll ship with Gingerbread, so you’ll have to wait a couple of weeks for that Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade. Still, the Sony version of the Gingerbread interface is one of the better ones (up there with HTC’s Sense and Samsung’s TouchWiz), offering upgraded functionality and little lost speed.

Overall though, the Xperia S is a mighty phone and a good first start for the Sony brand in 2012. With the sim-free Sony Xperia P and sim-free Sony Xperia U on the horizon too, it could be a great year. For our part, we’ll be offering a full range of Sony Xperia S accessories including Sony Xperia S cases and Sony Xperia S chargers. We’ll also have accessories for the next two phones in the Xperia line-up as well.
