HTC One X Announced: Superphone with quad-core, HD screen, epic camera

HTC have revealed their 2012 flagship handset: The HTC One X.

Previously known by its codename Endeavor, the phone includes the latest and greatest in smartphone technology, including a 4.7″ 720p Super LCD display and a quad-core Tegra 3 chipset running at 1.5 GHz. That’s backed with an able 1 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage, which you can fill up with stills or 1080p video from the f/2.0, backside-illuminated 8 megapixel camera. It ships with Ice Cream Sandwich, with Beats Audio and HTC Sense 4.

You can see why HTC are calling it their “all-in” phone. It’ll be one of the fastest phones of 2012, and its camera deserves special mention.

As well as the better optics in use, HTC have also included a dedicated imaging processor that’ll result in lower image noise, greater colour accuracy and higher overall quality. The software on board is also impressive, with the camera app starting in 0.7 seconds and autofocus taking just 0.2 seconds. If you hold down the shutter button, you’ll switch into burst mode and be able to pick the best of your shots and discard the remainder. You can even take pictures while recording HD video. By focusing on camera improvements, HTC may be adding another dimension to their traditional strengths.

Here at Mobile Fun, we’ll be stocking all of the HTC One X accessories you’ll need in order to keep the handset safe once it comes out in April. You’ll probably want to start with an HTC One X case or HTC One X screen protector to prevent damage to your handset. If you’re often using your phone in a car then an HTC One X car holder may be a good next step, or if you’re in the office then an HTC One X desk stand might be better suited. Either way, you’ll find everything you need here.

So, what do you think of the new phone? Let us know via the comments below!

  1. Hi Kevin. The reason the micro SD card slot was dropped is that it takes up too much space. It’s much more efficient to use internal memory instead – the same reason it takes a micro SIM card too.

With 32 GB of space you should have more than enough for apps, music, movies and pictures. It’s also worth noting that the phone comes with 25 GB of Dropbox storage that can be used to automatically archive photos, freeing up space on the phone.

  2. Nice phone, and one I’ve been waiting for since it was announced as “The Edge”. But NO SD card slot!!!!! What are they doing?! This is NOT an iGroan, it’s and HTC Android. Why the hell did they “drop” the ability to use an SD :-(
