The Pocket Boom, what we think is going to be the best product of the year, is finally here. It’s a clever little gadget that turns anything it touches into a speaker. Wherever you are, there’s always something you can turn into a speaker – a table, a cardboard box, or even a plant pot. The bigger the surface, the bigger the sound.
The Pocket Boom is on offer while stocks last, at just £19.99, so check out the product page for more info or have a look at some of the videos we’ve made below.

What do you think? Let us know!
Bluetooth does tend to run down your battery faster, and since it’s a portable device already my guess is that this would reduce its operating time significantly, unless a larger battery was fitted.
Why not blue-tooth it?
I think it makes more sense this way around, as it means you can attach it to things relatively far away without having your phone dangling in the air. Unwinding at both ends would be better, but it would also necessitate a bulkier design to accommodate two spools instead of one.
I think I’ll wait for the Mk II version, where the cable unwinds from the audio jack end. Having to have the cylinder that close to the device would be a pain. Better to have it close to the speaker end (or to unwind at both ends so you have a choice).
