Weekly News Round-Up

This is the first of our weekly news round-ups, where I’ll be putting together a collection of tasty tech titbits from inside & outside of Mobile Fun.

Angry Birds Red Bird Design Case

Angry Birds Case (Red Bird Design)

We’re now selling Angry Birds cases for the iPhone 4, which are going down a storm.  Or in fact, going down like a small bird fired from a slingshot towards a pig…ahem.  We’ve got them in three different designs – yellow bird, red bird and pig king – so that people can choose their favourite character.  So far the bird designs are proving more popular than the pig, which I’m sure you’ll understand if you’ve played the game! If not it’s worth a look at from your app store; I’m a latecomer but already horribly addicted >:O

We’ve also got a White iPhone 4 Converter Kit (see press release) in, which at £159.95 is pretty pricey but (given that the wait for the actual white version of the iPhone 4 has been so long) we’re pleased to report is actually selling really well!  This kit changes the iPhone 4 from standard black to gleaming white in just over an hour.  It will void warranty though, so bear that in mind before you go fiddling around.

As I’m sure many of you know, there’ve been leaks from RIM this week and it looks like there’s a lot of new devices on the way: the Storm 2, Bold Dakota, the Curve Apollo and the Monaco Storm 3.  Obviously we’re going to continue to expand our range of BlackBerry accessories over the coming year to keep up, and are looking forward to seeing how BB fare this year in the war against Apple and Android (a constant source of argument around the MF office!)

Our first shipment of ZaggMate cases with keyboards for the iPad are due to arrive very very soon, and ours will be the first batch in the UK of these (see press release).  It’s a pretty nifty looking case and we’ve had a lot of pre-orders already, so they’ll be winging their way into willing hands.  Particularly great for commuters, I should think, who want to get some heavy-duty typing done on the train.

The HTC Desire HD extended battery from Mugen has turned out to be a huge seller, with tons of people grabbing one for the extra power.  Obviously battery power’s a huge concern for these top-end smartphones, and power-draining screens only seem to be getting larger!

If you’re a journalist or writer and wish to enquire about obtaining sample units of these (or any other) products then please do drop me a line.

That’s it for now – hope you all have a great weekend!
