Our History

At Mobile Fun, we embody our core values of “never stop learning”, “trusted”, “our team wins” and “tech matters”.

Founded in 2000 by Anthony Cook in Wimbledon, UK, the company quickly grew and expanded its product range offerings to include phone cases and clip-on covers for popular Nokia phones. Mobile Fun was also a pioneer in the mobile downloads space, launching the second online mobile downloads service in the UK, supplying ringtones, wallpapers, and other mobile downloads directly to mobile phones by SMS.

As we continued to grow, we expanded our offerings to include mobile phones from Orange, One2One (T-Mobile), and the 3 mobile network, selling up to 1000 handsets per month through the “Buzz” mobile website. However, as commissions from mobile networks decreased, we adapted and focused on growth areas such as Bluetooth headsets and car kits, following the UK hands-free legislation in 2003.

In response to the launch of the iPhone in 2007, Mobile Fun repositioned itself to focus on the growth of smartphones, launching a mobile website and expanding into screen protectors and other smartphone accessories. This growth led to international expansion in 2008, with offices opening in France, Germany, Spain and Australia, of which the websites of these satellite sites remain today but are now managed fully from Birmingham in addition to our UK, US & Canada and New Zealand websites.

As we continued to evolve, we have remained committed to our core values of learning, trust, winning as a team, and embracing technology. We have won “Online Retailer of the Year at the Mobile News Awards” over a number of years (see all the awards we have won), and acquired the China-based sourcing office of Playfect in 2013, an established supplier of games console accessories to retailers such as John Lewis, repositioning this sourcing capability in 2014 to establish our Olixar product range and small Business2Business capability. Our China sourcing capability allowed Mobile Fun to implement an increased Amazon marketplace presence in 2017 and saw the establishment in this year of the in-house brand “LoveCases”, with a focus for this brand of the fashion-conscious consumer and selling via Social Media (Instagram).

Mobile Fun’s core belief that tech matters, is also what has guided us through the migration of our websites which was a fragmented in-house legacy platform to a Magento platform in 2018, this was the same year that we invested and acquired in-house mobile phone case printing technology and repositioned the “LoveCases” brand to that of a print-on-demand operation and continued social media marketplace brand and further migration of this brand to Shopify.

At Mobile Fun, we understand that technology is vital, which is why we prioritise our team’s expertise. We trust our team to deliver exceptional service and support, ensuring our millions of customers always have access to cutting-edge mobile accessories and can come to us when they need the latest mobile industry insights. We believe our team is the key to our success, and that’s why we’re committed to helping them thrive.

We’ve implemented hybrid working arrangements for suitable roles, providing our colleagues with the best of both worlds – a virtual and in-person work experience. Our goal is to create a workplace that’s clear, straightforward, and efficient, where our team has the necessary support to perform at their best. At Mobile Fun, we never stop learning, and we continuously strive to improve so that our team can keep making amazing things happen for our customers.
