Want a cool way to make use of that old iPhone or iPod Touch and keep your kids occupied at the same time? Ubooly is a cuddly orange bear that is designed to play and teach children using its iPhone heart. You just install the free Ubooly app and put the iPhone or iPod Touch inside the bear, then the iPhone’s display shows the character’s face.
Ubooly can interact with children in a few different ways – it can play games, offer choose your own adventure stories and tell jokes. Each month, the app is updated with new content so you won’t hear the same story too many times.
Check out the video below for a nice little shot of Ubooly in action:
The Ubooly app can also be used without the plush body – there are mini-games to play and rooms that can be decorated using in-app purchases. It goes without saying that you’d want to make sure your child can’t spend money without your knowledge by locking out store access!
Ubooly has got some favourable reviews so far, and looks to be a hit with its four to nine years old target audience. It’s compatible with the iPhone 3GS and up, and the iPod Touch 4G and up. As well as good critical reviews, investors seem to believe in it too – after a successful Kickstarter campaign that raised $28,000, the team behind the furry toy received a further $1.5 million in seed funding!
We’re thinking of stocking this soft and squishy iPhone accessory here at Mobile Fun. What do you make of the creature – should we carry it? Let us know in the comments below and we’ll make our decision. Thanks for the feedback!
