Light-weight and low-bulk skins can be a popular choice for smartphone covers, but when it comes to feeling properly protected against the world you can’t do better than a heavy-duty, dependable leather case. Sturdy and long-lasting, leather is also a timeless classic that looks great both in and out of the workplace.
Protection’s particularly important when it comes to protection for high-end smartphones, such as iPhone 4 and HTC Desire HD cases. Here’s my run-down of my top five choices of Desire HD leather case, all of which can be found over on the main site:
PDair Leather Flip Case for HTC Desire HD
A standard but elegant flip-case, the PDair is hand-stitched from premium leather specially selected for its durability. Custom cutaways allow access to all ports and features, and the case has a custom clip system which lets it be worn on the belt at any angle. The clip can also be removed completely, if you prefer (when’s the last time you saw someone with a phone on their belt?!)
Krusell Orbit Flex for HTC Desire HD
The Krusell Orbit Flex case gives you two styles for the price of one, due to its removable flip lid. Without the lid, the case is slim-fitted and elegant, whereas the lidded option gives that extra bit of heft that lets you know your phone is well protected. The interior is soft beige leather, cushioning the phone. Krusell cases are also hugely practical as they come fitted with Multiadapt, which gives you a range of interchangeable attachment options, including belt, car, bike and pocket.
Bugatti Slimline Leather Case for HTC Desire HD and HTC HD7
Bugatti are best known for their expensive, luxurious cars – so it’s no surprise that the phone cases by the same exhibit the same high standards (though of course at a much lower cost!) The Bugatti Slimline case is crafted from fine quality calf leather for that sumptuous feel, and although it’s around the same price as the Krusell Orbit Flex and PDair Flip Case, I think the Bugatti has the edge on style.
Noreve Tradition Leather Case for HTC Desire HD
Another flip-case, and this one’s one of the most elegant available on the market, hailing as the company does from fashion capital St. Tropez. Noreve use fine-grain, hand-crafted leather and only the top quality materials to ensure that the phone is protected, but also pay great attention to those little practical niggles; for example, including a magnetic clasp, removeable belt-clip, a stainless steel mesh protector for the speakers and multiple access openings for phone functions. For the money, this is definitely my favourite of the five.
Piel Frama iMagnum for HTC Desire HD
Much pricier than the other four, the Piel Frama iMagnum is top of the range stuff – their write-up goes as far as describing it as “perfection in a case”! Whether or not you think perfection’s achievable in a phone case, the Piel Frama iMagnum is undoubtedly a very nice piece; assembled by hand to perfectly complement the curves of your device, using Grade A leather from specially selected cows and held together by wear-resistant Gutermann thread, each case takes a whole 25 days to produce. Spot on for those that value subtle, refined style and bespoke elegance.
