I’ve mentioned the iPhone Death Grip a couple of times over the last few weeks, but it appears that more and more people are suffering with the so called ‘Death Grip’ with the new iPhone 4.
Like most Apple fans, we were really excited about the launch of iPhone 4, but after queuing for hours to get our hands on one, we were disappointed to find that there is a problem with signal reception when you hold the phone in a certain way.
Apple have acknowledged that there is something wrong with the way that the phone displays signal strength on the screen and their advice is to hold the phone in a different way or use an iPhone 4 Case. They’re promising a software update will fix this, but as yet there’s no sign of an update being made available.
The problem occurs when your hand makes contact with the black band that joins the two antennas on the bottom left corner of the phone. By fitting a case to your phone it puts a barrier between your hand and the phone and significantly reduces any signal loss.
Apple are being unusually slow at getting a fix in place for this and are leaving thousands of disappointed users with a phone that is sometimes unusable.
