Too wide for Toyota Auris dashboard

Upon putting this item in my car, it was immediately apparent that it is about 1.5in too big for the small dashboard in my Toyota Auris. But I still use it anyway by centrally positioning it so that only a little hangs off on each side.
I specifically bought this because I needed something that would be sturdy enough to hold my large/heavy Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra phone during long journeys. Any other bits and bobs can go into the compartments that are out of eyeshot from thieves.
Anyway, it does the job! I was concerned that the phone would topple over (due to its weight) during sharp turns and speed bumps, but the phone grip on this thing handles sharp turns and bumps like a pro.
With all that said, it does what I bought it for, and for that reason, I am happy with my purchase.

I’ve had a few car phone holders in the past some that attached to the car window & some that go into the car heaters vents & some that sticks to the dashboard & between them all have broken or the sticky bits have marked the dashboard. This one doesn’t stick with sticking tap it holds its self in place very pleased with it I can just pick it up and put it in to my husband’s car.

The mat is of good size to be able to hold phone, keys, and a small amount of change. I would suggest that it comes with a 3M sticky adhesive so that it can be fixed to the dashboard, as the mat moves all the way along the dashboard, sometimes as far as the passenger side if the dashboard, when driving and making a left or right turn.
