I bought this item primarily for use as a bedside charging dock, with the HDMI out being a useful bonus. I've tested the HDMI function on a 42" HD TV, and it worked as expected; any issues seemed to be with the apps I was using. Netflix, for example, doesn't have a landscape view for browsing the catalogue, so it appears as a tall, thin strip in the middle of the screen, with big black borders on either side; playback works as you'd expect in landscape, though.
The phone fits easily into the charger (I don't use a case, but there's a removable section to accommodate extra bulk). Using the Tasker app, I've been able to configure the phone to automatically launch an Alarm Clock app when it is plugged in, so I've been able to do away with my bulky clock radio that used to sit there.
Build quality seems excellent, although there's a manufacturer's logo on the front (Kidigi), which isn't shown in the pictures here.
