Sony’s Xperia X Performance was remarkably underwhelming, but its successor is already in the works. Photos appeared online today<\/a> on GSMArena<\/em>,\u00a0showing off what’s thought to be the company’s next flagship, the F8331.<\/p>\n

The phone sports an interesting design, which is recognisable as Sony but quite different to what we’ve seen before. It has rounded left and right edges, with a completely flat top and bottom. The screen has swelled in size beyond five inches, but remains at 1080p resolution. The NFC chip remains on the top of the front of the phone; an odd placement in my eyes.<\/p>\n

The largest feature upgrade comes at the bottom of the phone, where you’ll find a USB-C port. It should be the first Sony phone to come with the new reversible connector, and could benefit from faster charging speeds as well. Thankfully for headphone fans, the 3.5mm jack remains intact at the top of the phone.<\/p>\n

The front-facing camera is also bigger, with a sensor capable of 4K video recording. There’s also a new layout for the rear camera’s dual LED flash.<\/p>\n

It’s thought that the new Sony flagship will be unveiled at IFA 2016, which is happening in September. An American release seems unlikely, but the phone should hit the UK and EU in the latter half of the year.<\/p>\n
