After a mysterious accidental reveal last week, the Sony Xperia E5 is finally ready to show its face. The new phone has solid mid-range ambitions, with Sony’s signature style, middling specs and a reasonable camera. There’s little here to really catch attention, but at a low-end \u20ac199 (~\u00a3150) price point I guess you don’t need to do more than the basics — if you do them well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

You’ll find the full specs to the right, but here are the highlights: a five inch 720p display, with minimal bezels, a capable quad-core processor, backed with 1.5GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable storage. In terms of optics, we’re looking at a very standard package, a 13-megapixel shooter with HDR and flash on the back, and a 5-megapixel selfie cam up front. Sony are claiming the phone should last the better part of two days, thanks to\u00a0a built-in, non-removable 2700mAh battery and modest power requirements.<\/p>\n

The phone will be released sometime next month, which puts the release anywhere from one to thirty days away. It’ll hit ‘select’ European, Latin American, African and Asian markets, so stay tuned for local availability.<\/p>\n
