Following the news that Nokia is set to release a new range of smartphones and tablets we thought we’d delve into the archives to look at some of Nokia’s more unusual offerings.<\/strong>

And who knows perhaps they’ll seek inspiration from the past.<\/p>\n

Nokia 3210<\/h3>\n

Not so unusual, but hailing from the era when smartphones started to look like home phones, as apposed to bricks… the Nokia 3210 is the phone that most of us owned at one time or another. Still touted as the greatest phone of all time by some – it was impossible to break, its battery lasted for days, oh, and who could forget the frustratingly wonderful Snake!<\/p>\n

Far\u00a0too easy to mix\u00a0up with your tv remote, the Nokia 6800 was more keyboard than phone.<\/p>\n

2003 was an interesting year for Nokia where they weren’t afraid to break the mold and try something completely different. Case in point, the Nokia N Gage – colloquially known as the Taco Phone.<\/p>\n

Combining the noughtie’s\u00a0craze for handheld gaming with a mobile phone seemed like such a good idea at the time!<\/p>\n

A testament to Nokia’s Art Deco period. Uniquely the\u00a0face plate system enabled you\u00a0to print out\u00a0your\u00a0own faceplate designs and use it in the phone.<\/p>\n

Believe it or not the Nokia 7600 was one of the smallest 3G phones in the world when it was first launched. However thanks to its teardrop shape\u00a0it was also notoriously awkward to use.<\/p>\n

Touted as the “lipstick” phone. This one of Nokia’s many forays into the fashion market.<\/p>\n

Nokia 7700<\/h3>\n

A development of the N Gage the Nokia 7700, with its joystick buttons was designed to be more gamer friendly. Unfortunately it never made it to market.<\/p>\n

Code named “Thunder” the 3250 transformed from a phone\u00a0into a camera and music player, with just a twist.<\/p>\n

Nokia\u00a0X5-01<\/h3>\n

\"nokia-x5-01\"<\/p>\n

This square smartphone stood out from the tall skinny crowd,\u00a0showing once again Nokia weren’t afraid to do things a little differently.<\/p>\n
