As great as the camera is, there are still ways in which you can take better and more interesting photos with your new device.

Use the camera’s built-in shooting modes

Generally speaking, the default auto shooting mode on the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge will be fine most of your snaps, but some of the different modes available can be quite useful.

Pro mode

If you’re already a bit of an expert when it comes to photography, then you might want to play around with the Pro shooting mode, which lets you tinker with settings such as aperture and ISO levels and white balance. If used correctly, you can achieve some very artistic results.

Selective focus mode

The selective focus mode works by taking multiple photos of your subject at varying focus levels then allowing you to change the focus of your photo after it’s been saved to your gallery. A pretty good way of avoiding those annoying blurry images, though you do have to allow a fraction more time for the camera to snap multiple shots.

HDR Mode

HDR mode can be found on most smartphones and is a handy feature for improving the quality of your photos in certain situations. Here’s a good summary of how HDR mode works from Samsung themselves:

“By combining multiple photos at different exposures to create the perfect photo, the HDR (High Dynamic Range) setting can help balance out harsh lighting conditions, high contrast, or backlit photos, making the final photo less dark.”

To enable it, simply toggle the HDR to ‘On’ in the camera app.

For a full breakdown of all the available camera modes on the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, we recommend this article from our friends at Recombu.

Editing tools

The fun doesn’t have to stop once you’ve taken your photo, and with the help of some top Android editing apps you can turn good photos into great ones.
