iPads have always taken a long time to charge, thanks to their capacious internal batteries. The original iPad Pro, with its 38.8Wh battery, takes a monstrous 4.5 hours to charge fully using the 12W adapter in the box. That’s fine overnight but it’s certainly not ideal if you’re looking for a quick recharge at an airport or the like. It’s the same story with the new 9.7-inch iPad Pro<\/a>, which also has a sizeable 27.5Wh internal battery.<\/p>\n

Thankfully, there is another option available: Apple’s 29W USB-C power adapter<\/a>, which provides more than double-speed charging (and is better known as the charger that ships with the new MacBook). Faster charging\u00a0is pricey though, with the adapter costing\u00a0\u00a334 – and that’s not including the \u00a325 for a 1 metre USB-C to Lightning cable<\/a>\u00a0or \u00a335 for\u00a0a 2 metre USB-C to Lightning cable.<\/a>\u00a0That puts your total spend at \u00a359 or \u00a369, respectively.<\/p>\n

We’re looking to source a more wallet-friendly alternative charger in the near future.\u00a0Until then, it’s up to you to decide if much faster charging is worth the extra expense.<\/p>\n
