I don’t think that I’ve ever used the Stocks app on purpose, yet it still sits on my homescreen day after day, taking up space. I’ve put it in its own little ‘useless apps’ folder, but wouldn’t it be better to get rid of it completely?

Unfortunately, that’s just not possible—but there is at least a way to hide unused apps completely from the home screen… at least until your iPhone runs out of power and is restarted. Here’s how:

Create a new folder, and call it anything you like.

Put all the apps you want to hide in that folder.

Press and hold on the app you want to hide, then drag it onto the next folder page.

Then, drag it onto onto the third page but don’t let go. Press the home button… and hey presto, your app is gone!

You can repeat step three with each app you want to remove. The apps will stay off your home screen until your phone restarts. They’ll still turn up in search results, so you can run them again from search if you need to.

This only works with iOS version 9.0 to 9.2; earlier and you’re out of luck.

If you’d like, watch the whole process of removing Apple’s built-in apps in video form below:

I hope you found this guide to hiding any iPhone app helpful.
