Kitty S<\/strong>\u00a0is this month’s iPhone Photographer of the Month.<\/p>\n Born and raised in Denver in the USA, she has a unique eye for capturing her environment.<\/p>\n In addition to\u00a0pursuing her passion for photography, Kitty’s worked in the beauty industry for over 20 years, she states\u00a0“I’ve done everything from shining shoes, to cutting hair, to teaching crochet, to buying yarn for a online craft store, to being a vet tech. I’ve dabbled in it all.”<\/em><\/p>\n And it’s this almost chameleon-like ability to evolve\u00a0that makes Kitty’s photography\u00a0stand out. Her work is inspired by the environment she’s in and she isn’t afraid to dabble to get the best shot – she specializes in urban photography but also incorporates\u00a0shots of people,\u00a0nature and architecture into her\u00a0work\u00a0– adapting her style to get the best out of every shot.<\/p>\n You can find her on Instagram here\u00a0@This.Kitty<\/a>\u00a0and on EyeEm here @thiskitty<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n Share this post:<\/strong><\/p>\n What’s your device of choice?<\/strong><\/p>\n “I’m currently shooting with the iPhone 6. The camera is so much better than most people think. I frequently get comments from people who don’t believe I shoot with my phone. I assure you it’s true! <\/em><\/p>\n I don’t own a camera and I don’t have much interest in getting one. I can do just about everything I want to do with my iPhone and it’s always with me. Editing and posting to IG or EyeEm is quick and easy, too.”<\/em><\/p>\n Have you always been an iPhone photographer or did you start out through a more traditional route?<\/strong><\/p>\n “I’ve always had a camera of some sort.\u00a0I received my first camera when I was 5 or 6. It was a Kodak Instamatic. I mostly took photos of my friends, my bike and my parakeet. I took photography classes in highschool. We shot on 35mm black and white film and developed the photos ourselves. I always loved the process. I think my first iPhone (4s) really opened me up to photography in a new way. Photography is something I do almost everyday, wherever I go now.”<\/em><\/p>\n How did you get into iPhone photography?<\/strong><\/p>\n “My first smartphone was a cheap Android. Once I discovered Instagram and editing apps, I quickly discovered the limits of the Android platform. iPhone was the only choice. With the iPhone I was able to shoot and edit photos more creatively and easily.”<\/em><\/p>\n What’s your favourite subject to photograph?<\/strong><\/p>\n “I prefer to shoot in urban environments – street scenes, architecture, subways. I like deep perspective, symmetry and reflections. “Puddle” shots are one of my favorite ways to capture a scene.”<\/em><\/p>\n What inspires your photography?<\/strong><\/p>\n “I’m inspired by many things – pretty light, symmetrical lines, vibrant color (although my edits have been sort of monotone lately). I’m also inspired by many of the fantastic photographers I follow on Instagram and EyeEm.”<\/em><\/p>\n Do you plan your photos or are they a response to everyday life?<\/strong><\/p>\n “Occasionally it’s fun to plan shots, especially if I’m with a group of other photographers, but most of my shots are shot in the moment. I’m always on the lookout for puddles and long perspectives.”<\/em><\/p>\n Do you use any apps?<\/strong><\/p>\n “I tend to edit with VSCO and Afterlight.”<\/em><\/p>\n What tips do you have for any budding iPhone photographers?<\/strong><\/p>\n “Practice makes perfect.
