It seems like an ideal work tablet at first blush, but dig deeper and you&#8217;ll find a bit of a deal\u00a0breaker: there&#8217;s no way to have two apps on screen at once.<\/p>\n<p><em>(That&#8217;s likely a consequence of the Pixel C&#8217;s troubled development. The tablet is speculated to have <a href=\"http:\/\/arstechnica.com\/gadgets\/2015\/12\/the-pixel-cs-bumpy-road-from-chrome-os-concept-to-android-adoptee\/\">begun life as a Chrome OS laptop<\/a>, before being switched to an Android device.)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Not having split-screen or multi-window support was\u00a0once was a given for\u00a0a mobile OS, but things have changed \u2014 since Windows 8 and iOS 9, both of Android&#8217;s major competitors have enjoyed split-screen functionality. Android surely needs better split-screen support\u00a0to make the Pixel C a viable option, and Google have confirmed that it&#8217;s on the way.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mobilefun.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/CVzfhyVWEAA1ZI3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-48368\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mobilefun.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/CVzfhyVWEAA1ZI3.jpg\" alt=\"CVzfhyVWEAA1ZI3\" width=\"1024\" height=\"365\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mobilefun.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/CVzfhyVWEAA1ZI3.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.mobilefun.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/CVzfhyVWEAA1ZI3-300x107.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.mobilefun.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/CVzfhyVWEAA1ZI3-450x160.jpg 450w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Speaking in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/IAmA\/comments\/3w3x7p\/hi_im_andrew_here_at_google_and_im_with_the_team\/\">Reddit AMA<\/a> (Ask Me Anything) interview with the Google Pixel C development team, Android and Chrome UX directory Andrew Boyers\u00a0stated that better split-screen support would be coming to the next version of Android, version N:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>We&#8217;re working on lots of things right now for N that, of course, we wish we had, you know, yesterday. But we&#8217;d spoil the surprise of N if we shared all of them. Split screen is in the works!<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Android and Chrome UX director Glen Murphy also chimed in:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>We&#8217;re working hard on a range of enhancements for Android in this form factor. There are many things, like multi-window, that we&#8217;ve been spending a lot of time on \u2014 hopefully we can share more about this soon.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Android N \u2014 Nutella? \u2014 should be announced at Google&#8217;s I\/O conference in May or June next year, followed by a general release in autumn. We don&#8217;t know too much about it yet, but a new focus on improving Android on tablets would make sense.<\/p>\n<p>What other features would you like to see Google add to Android?
