If you’re looking for a Bluetooth keyboard<\/a>\u00a0to use with your phone or tablet, there are plenty of great options on the market that blend tactile keys, a portable size and a sleek, modern look. However, what happens if you want something a little more ostentatious? A little more retro? Here’s the ultimate Bluetooth keyboard for hipsters: the Qwerkywriter.<\/p>\n

The Qwerkywriter is technically an iPad Bluetooth keyboard<\/a>,\u00a0but it’s closer in form and function to a relic of a more elegant age: a typewriter. That includes widely-spaced circular keys, mechanical action and a brilliant aural report (thanks to Kailh Blue clicky switches). There’s even a carriage return lever, which is a lovely way of marking the end of each paragraph that you writer.<\/p>\n

The keyboard connects to the iPad (and other devices) via Bluetooth; a USB connection was also planned but hasn’t made it into the shipping version of the product. As it stands, the micro USB port on the back is only used for charging; thanks to the generous size of the keyboard, you can expect one to three months of battery life with regular use.<\/p>\n

The Qwerkywriter raised $120,000 on Kickstarter, exceeding its goal of $90,000 by a comfortable margin. Backers paid $289 for their early models; pre-orders are going for $329 and the eventual RRP will be $399.\u00a0The Qwerkywriter was recently reviewed by\u00a0Engadget<\/em>, who loved its styling<\/a> despite a few small flaws.<\/p>\n
