Qi wireless charging is quickly being integrated into everything – lamps<\/a>, alarm clocks<\/a>, even IKEA furniture<\/a>. This week, Samsung has announced another category of Qi-enabled wireless charging gadgets<\/a>: monitors!<\/p>\n

The new Samsung SE370 monitor is the first to support wireless charging, with a small pad integrated into the monitor’s stand. The placement is pretty ideal – I already put my phone on my monitor’s stand while I’m at my PC – and of course the monitor will already has\u00a0the power necessary to charge your phone, so there are no extra cables to install.<\/p>\n

Samsung’s latest phones, the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge, both support Qi wireless charging. Two new phones are coming later today, the Galaxy Note 5 and S6 Edge Plus, and both of these will certainly support the wireless charging standard as well. Outside of Samsung, wireless charging is included in many high-end phones from LG, Google, Microsoft and more.<\/p>\n

The SE370 is otherwise quite standard, with a 24 or 27-inch 1080p PLS display built into a rather fetching white-and-teal bezel and a white stand. Viewing angles are good at 178 degrees, and maximum brightness reasonable at 300 cd\/m2. AMD’s FreeSync, which is ideal for PC gaming at higher detail settings using an AMD-based GPU, is also included in the monitor.<\/p>\n

With so many monitor advancements coming in screen size or resolution, it’s cool to see something a little different. With\u00a0expensive technologies like\u00a0ultra-wide<\/a>, high-frequency monitors becoming more commonplace, hopefully we’ll see the relatively inexpensive addition of wireless charging in more monitors going forward.<\/p>\n
