Design<\/h3>\n

You’d expect the Nokia Lumia 640 XL to look like a larger version of the Lumia 640, and by and in large that’s exactly what you get. The phablet has a generous 5.7-inch IPS display, running at a reasonable 1280 x 720 resolution and protected by Gorilla Glass 3. There’s also a five-megapixel wide-angle front-facing camera here, letting you have great-looking selfies and crystal clear video calls. On the other side of the phone, you’ll find a 13-megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics and LED flash.<\/p>\n

Hardware<\/h3>\n

Internally, the Lumia 640 XL is more than capable of making your Windows experience fast and fluid. You’ll get a quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor, backed with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. This storage can also be extended via micro SD – it’ll even work with\u00a0Sandisk’s recent 200GB card<\/a>!<\/p>\n

All of this is powered by a sizeable 3000mAh battery, which should provide up to 936 hours of 3G standby or nearly a full day (23 hours, 40 minutes) of 3G talk time.<\/p>\n

Software<\/h3>\n

The Lumia 640 XL will come with Windows Phone 8.1, specifically the Lumia Denim update. This means you’ll get full access to the latest features, including the word flow keyboard, the redesigned Camera app and Nokia’s HERE maps for navigation and turn-by-turn directions.<\/p>\n

The phone will also be upgraded to Windows 10 once the mobile OS is released later this year. That update will include a nice range of upgrades, including a redesigned settings menu and compatibility with a much wider range of apps than Windows Phone 8.1.<\/p>\n
