Battery life is also a point of strength for the device, with two days of always-on use and three days if the display is allowed to turn off when not in use. The bad points? The Android Wear OS as a whole isn’t yet completed and the watch has a large-body design that won’t appeal to everyone.

Android Authority: ‘Exquisite craftsmanship, stunning display, exceptional battery life’

Next up we have the effusive folks of Android Authority, who seem to be big fans of the device too. The build quality and design of the watch are highlighted in their review, with the traditional look of the watch – including numbered bezel – being well-received. The display is also lauded, particularly given this is a circular display without the ‘awkward black bar’ of the Moto 360. To Authority, these strengths justify the higher price point of the device.

Android Central: ‘a step forward, but not a game-changer’

Android Central take a more measured tone in their review, calling the watch an evolution upon its predecessors if not an absolute revolution of the system. The review describes the watch as ‘like a real, actual watch – complete with crown, minute marks and hefty lugs’; which they call ‘a vast improvement’ over the earlier G Watch. The review also calls the G Watch R a ‘battery champ’ compared to the Moto 360. Overall, the watch is recommended for early adopters but not for the mass market.

Stuff: ‘won’t win beauty contests… but that’s about its only flaw’

Our final review comes courtesy of Stuff, who aren’t fans of the watch’s bulky look compared to the svelter Moto 360. However, they are happy to admit that otherwise the G Watch R is a clear winner, with a good OLED screen, great battery life and ‘a smooth experience, delivered by powerful innards.’ Ultimately, they say that there’s ‘plenty to love’ about the G Watch R.

Conclusion

Thanks for checking out our G Watch R review roundup.
