Mobile Fun are the first to announce a sim-free price for the HTC Desire 300 – the phone will be available for \u00a3179.99, and should launch in time for Christmas.<\/p>\n

The HTC Desire 300 is a plucky, low-end smartphone that finally banishes the bugbear of Desires past – that minimal on-board storage. With 4 GB of flash memory and micro SD card support, you’ll be able to get much closer to the bleeding edge of Android smartphones.<\/p>\n

The phone seems ideally sized as well, with a screen measuring 4.3-inches across. That’s slightly bigger than the iPhone, but still small enough that you can comfortably use it with one hand. That thin frame, combined with its 120 grams of weight, makes for a highly portable phone that won’t fill your pocket.<\/p>\n

The Desire 300 also comes with some of the latest Android software – it’ll ship with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean alongside HTC’s Sense 5 UI. That puts it on par with all of the leading flagships, bar Google’s own Nexus devices which are on 4.3. That means you can take full advantage of the buttery smoothness of Android 4.2.<\/p>\n

The Desire 300 is also a decent cameraphone, with a 5 megapixel autofocus camera on the rear. While it won’t be competing with the latest iPhone any time, at less than a third of the price it’s an entirely reasonable proposition.<\/p>\n

Overall, the Desire 300 seems to be optimally positioned at the low end of the market, offering a good introductory Android experience at a fraction of the cost of the leading flagships.<\/p>\n
