The upcoming Nokia Lumia 1520 is something of an oddity – it’s exciting to see Nokia’s first phablet-sized device, but it’s also sad to think that it will be one of the last independent phones created by the company before they become a part of Microsoft. Here’s what we know about the 1520 so far.<\/p>\n
We first heard about the Lumia 1520 last year under the codename ‘Bandit’, where it was described as a 6″ Window Phone, running the upcoming GDR3 update. That update includes support for 1080p displays, which makes a lot of sense at a 6″ screen size.<\/p>\n
Later, we heard from\u00a0The Verge<\/em>\u00a0quite a few details and even a few pictures of the device. The source of the leak told the august publication that the Lumia 1520 included a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 32 GB of RAM, an SD card slot and a massive 3,400 mAh battery – making for quite a powerhouse of a Windows Phone, on a level that far surpasses what we’ve seen from the platform before.<\/p>\n The camera was also detailed, and has been confirmed by\u00a0@evleaks<\/em>\u00a0as being a 20 megapixel unit, similar to the Lumia 925<\/a>. That’s still far in advance of anything we’ve seen from Android, save for the recently announced Sony Xperia Z1. Expect optical image stabilisation here too, making for a very strong imaging platform.<\/p>\n The Lumia 1520 was originally rumoured to be launching in late September, but it seems that Microsoft’s acquisition of the Finnish company has delayed that launch somewhat.
