More so, the device is waterproof up to 1 metre and features NFC and Bluetooth 3.0! What more could you want? Nothing? Well there is more. The second generation Sony SmartWatch is compatible with any 24 mm watchband which means that you change the standard rubber band with a leather or metal one if you prefer.

The device’s touchscreen is very responsive which means that you can easily make your way around the apps. Pairing to your phone is as simple as pairing a Bluetooth headset. Once done the watch will be able to vibrate and show you the caller ID for an incoming call that you receive on your Android smartphone. You can then use the watch answer a call or to reject or mute it you so choose.

The SmartWatch 2 is IP57 dust and water protection rated which means that no dust will enter its casing and that you submerge it in up to a metre of water.

The really good news is that you will be able to download apps to customize and enhance your SmartWatch’s features. There are, potentially, unlimited possibilities. For example, I would use the Belkin WeMo Home Automation Switch to control the heating in my home or set the coffee machine on from my bed – if only there was an app for that. Such things are possible but everything will depend on how successful the SmartWatch turns out to be. The more successful it is the more third-party apps will become available.

While the idea of the smartwatch was off to a slow start this year seems really promising for the concept as Apple is also expected to launch their own smartwatch soon and many start-ups are also looking to get into the market. Come back soon for more information on these.

The Sony SmartWatch 2 Android Watch will arrive on our virtual shelves very soon and can already be pre-ordered for just £119.95 Watch this short official Sony video for a quick glimpse into the future: The SonySmartWatch 2 can be used to check Twitter, Facebook, texts and emails and to control your Sony smartphone’s […]

[311,216
7177,135
