This week Samsung debuted their latest Android point-and-shoot camera. It’s called the Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom, and as you might expect it combines the look of the Galaxy S4 with a massive 10x point-and-shoot zoom lens, Xenon flash and 16 megapixel CMOS sensor.<\/p>\n

In terms of specifications, expect a mid-range Android device, with a 4.3″ qHD Super AMOLED display (960 x 540), a 1.5 GHz dual-core processor and Android 4.2 Jelly Bean on board. That’s a bit less impressive than last year’s Galaxy Camera based on the Galaxy S3, but it’s also smaller and likely to be cheaper.<\/p>\n

The advantage of having a full point-and-shoot camera lens is that Instagram or Facebook photos will look way better than even the best smartphone cameras, without the hassle of copying files from a point-and-shoot to your Android device. While it’s heavier and thicker than a Galaxy S4 due to that big lens, if you’re a big photographer the Galaxy S4 Zoom makes a lot of sense.<\/p>\n

Thus far, Samsung haven’t announced any details on pricing or availability. The original Galaxy Camera debuted for \u00a3399 in the UK in September last year, so a similar timing and a lower price would make sense – particularly given the fact that we’ve also seen leaks of a Samsung NX mirrorless Galaxy Camera in the works as well, which should take over the higher price point.<\/p>\n

We’ll be ready with a range of\u00a0Galaxy S4 Zoom accessories<\/a>\u00a0upon launch. We’ll also offer the\u00a0sim-free Galaxy S4 Zoom<\/a>\u00a0itself, which is currently available for pre-order.<\/p>\n
