\"\"Nokia has always produced killer cameraphones – now, it’s announced the unlocked Nokia 808 PureView<\/a>, which will ship with a truly massive 41 megapixel sensor capable of unrivalled image quality.<\/p>\n

You likely won’t need billboard sized images, so the 808’s image processor will oversample, taking edge data from seven neighboring pixels to produce one pixel’s worth of data, resulting in images roughly 5 megapixels in size. That oversampling vastly improves image quality, resulting in photos with practically zero noise. You can also shoot at 38 pixels in ‘creative shooting mode’ if you really do want billboard sized images. Without a doubt, it’s the single best camera to ever ship on a smartphone.<\/p>\n

The phone will also produce excellent videos at 1080p, thanks to that impressive 41 megapixel sensor. You’ll also be able to zoom in up to 3x without sacrificing any image quality. According to Nokia the 808 PureView is also the first video recording device to capture audio without distortion at audio levels beyond the levels of normal human hearing, allowing for stereo CD-level quality.<\/p>\n

The phone includes a 4″ display and 1.3 GHz single-core processor. The phone will run the Symbian Belle operating system on launch, and may be upgraded to Symbian Carla once that operating system becomes available.\u00a0It’s also likely that we’ll see a Windows Phone with the same PureView technology, so if you’re a Window Phone fan definitely look out for that.<\/p>\n
