The internet\u2019s ablaze at the moment with the news that a new Amazon Kindle might soon be in the works. The new Kindle, reportedly known as the Kindle Fire, will sport a 7″ capacitive colour touch screen \u2013 no e-ink. The tablet has a very similar form factor to the BlackBerry Playbook, and will run Android, albeit with a custom user-interface.<\/p>\n

Until that particular can of worms is opened however, let\u2019s roll with what we\u2019ve got \u2014 and what we\u2019ve got is a collection of the latest and greatest\u00a0Kindle accessories<\/a>, including as of right now, the five best and latestKindle covers<\/a>. Let\u2019s have a look.<\/p>\n

5. Leather Flip Case<\/h3>\n

Sometimes it\u2019s best to start with the basics. This\u00a0Kindle leather case<\/a>, the\u00a0Leather Flip Case<\/a>, is simple but effective, protecting your Kindle from damage with high quality, nicely crafted leather. The interior is made of ultra-soft microfibres that are designed to protect the screen and keyboard specifically.<\/p>\n

While it\u2019s not quite as an original idea as it once was, the\u00a0Lightwedge Verso Artist Series<\/a>\u00a0is definitely one of the best implementations, with the Cities by Sharyn Sowell case being particularly beautiful.<\/p>\n

3. Luminous Case with Light<\/h3>\n

This\u00a0Kindle cover<\/a>\u00a0includes a clever light attachment; hence its name, the\u00a0Luminous Case with Light<\/a>. TheKindle reading light<\/a>\u00a0that comes attached is powerful but directed, allowing you to read late at night without straining your eyes or disturbing those sleeping near you. The case, which is available in purple or black, is compact and made of vinyl of good quality.<\/p>\n

2. Otterbox Commuter<\/h3>\n

The\u00a0Otterbox Commuter<\/a>\u00a0has long been a favourite of mine, and I\u2019m glad to see it\u2019s coming to the Kindle. Although not officially released yet, the Commuter looks set to provide heretofore\u00a0unparalleled\u00a0levels of protection to the reading slate, even including a\u00a0Kindle screen protector<\/a>\u00a0as standard.<\/p>\n

Otterbox for Amazon Kindle Commuter Series<\/p><\/div>\n

The Commuter is certainly one of the best\u00a0Kindle cases<\/a>\u00a0around, and looks fantastic too. It was only just beaten to the top spot by our next cover.<\/p>\n

1. Speck FitFolio Cover<\/h3>\n

This custom-fit\u00a0Speck FitFolio Cover<\/a>\u00a0is a lovely looking case, coming in four colours: red, black, purple and (my favourite, and pictured below) peacock. The polycarbonate case is slightly heavier than the other cases, but does provide much more protection against accidental damage.\u00a0A two way bungee cord will keep the case closed at all times, making it a safe choice.<\/p>\n

Overall, it\u2019s a good little package and one of the nicest cases we\u2019ve seen.<\/p>\n
