The BlackBerry Bold 9900 unlocked<\/a> is quite a stunner; the first serious step RIM are making towards a BlackBerry that can compete with smartphone giants Apple, Samsung and HTC. It’s got the brilliant BlackBerry messaging system and the tight security that have made it a favourite with millions, from teens to titans, but there’s a lot more here.<\/p>\n

Massive Improvements<\/h3>\n

The most notable improvement to the BlackBerry 9900 Sim Free<\/a> is the fact that Research In Motion have finally included a reasonably high resolution touch screen. This has long been a missing feature for the BlackBerry family, and it’s great to see RIM catch up.<\/p>\n

Another is the upgraded internals, including that all-important faster processor. The new CPU is a 1.2GHz single core, so it won’t quite rival the latest dual core models from HTC and Samsung, but still provides the unlocked BlackBerry 9900<\/a> with much more horsepower than its predecessors. Beyond the CPU, the camera has also been improved and is capable of shooting in 720p HD.<\/p>\n

The phone ties it all together with the upgraded BlackBerry OS7, which includes a raft of new features and optimisations.<\/p>\n
