galaxy-s7-sim-sd-cardThe Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge use a nano SIM — the smallest SIM card currently available. This is also known as a 4FF SIM card.

You’ll find the SIM tray in the top of the phone; eject it with a SIM tool or a paperclip. The same tray also houses the micro SD card slot.

How to get a nano SIM card

You can request a nano SIM card from your mobile network operator, or cut a larger SIM down to size yourself with a SIM cutter. You can always use a SIM card adaptor to fit the SIM back into a phone that takes a micro SIM or standard SIM, but odds are you won’t need to.

What about the Dual-SIM model?

The Micro SD card slot doubles as a second nano SIM slot in dual-SIM models. You can see the difference expressed diagrammatically below.

  2. They are not the same thing, you can cut a mini sim down to nano or micro sim size but it is still a mini SIM. Please refer to this brief report on the differences between the cards which is far from just “all the same SIM card”.

    I liked VPP from Pad C6 it was an important feature in the older gen. VCC over C1 just doesn’t cut it for programming in the same way as mini SIM did.

    Now I know what you are going to say, and that is “but C6 is now used for NFC/SWP!” and you would be right but to that I say that should not be integrated in to any of the current contacts or moved back to C3 and the clock which currently resides in C3 integrated out of the current 8.

    That is why I appreciate Mini sim way more than than the 2 generations that followed and it is not a case of the size or type of the sim inside the phone but the support on Samsung’s end to support the mini SIM, regardless of its size

  3. What do you mean by ‘a mini SIM user’? It’s all the same SIM card, it’s just a question of what size it is. You can cut to make your SIM smaller, or use adapters to make them temporarily bigger (although it can be a bit of a chore).

  6. I’ve come to far to turn back now, although finding phones that still accept mini SIM is becoming increasingly difficult. It’s a shame Samsung dropped support for them :/ The size clearly makes them superior. #BringBackBigSIms

  8. same here! Stuck with an S7 and an Edge. forgot to check the box, site or this article and now they are pretty much useless. might as well return them
