Shortcomings
I bought the i900 to replace an ASUS 636 and Motorola V3i phone The i900 worked out of the box has a good screen and is a good size However I found the following shortcomings 1 No voice dial capability 2 The screen is very difficulty to see in daylight conditions no matter how the backlight is set 3 The GPS using iGO software and maps is slow It takes more than 20 minutes to lock on sufficient satelites to get working Ocassionally when you restart from the same location where you shutdown the GPS it will pick up a fix within a minute or so but not if you have not used the GPS for more than 48 hours 4 If you minimise a program iGO to use another service it is difficult to get the originalprogram back I have not yet found the way to do this My ASUS with Win Mobile had a taskbar in the bottom right hand corner that showed icons of minimised programs have not found this on the i900 Task Switcher also does not help
More issue - no space

Great phone
This is an excellent phone, having owned the HTC Touch Diamond i can say with confidence that the samsung is a much better phone. The HTC has a tendancy to freeze, this has not been a problem wirh tha samsung so far, battery life is good. Navigation around the phones menu's was at first tricky, but it soon becomes second nature. This is an top notch phone and much more.

| Who’s It For? |
If you want a touchscreen Windows Mobile phone, this is one of the best -- iPhone haters will love it |
| We like |
HSDPA (7.2Mbps); Wi-Fi; GPS; large screen |
| We don’t like |
No built-in 3.5mm headphone jack; camera isn't as sharp as we expected |
| Accessories |
microSD memory card, spare battery. |
| CNET.co.uk judgement |
Samsung continues to pump out handsets like there's no tomorrow -- sometimes they're good and sometimes they're not. The Samsung Omnia is a good one and while it isn't as responsive as the iPhone in some ways, it's a competent Windows Mobile phone that offers Microsoft functionality not found on Apple's darling |
