Have I found the perfect phone?
I am someone who is pretty demanding when it comes to a mobile phone. I want the lot. I want all the functionality of a nokia phone (love them - used them for years) but also want the benefits of push e-mail and real time synchronisation with my e-mail, contacts, and calendar. The E51 does the lot. It's not perfect, but is there such a thing? It is lovely to look at and handle, has all the nokia phone functions that we have come to love but also has complete sync with MS exchange server through nokia's Mail for Exchange. It does not have a qwerty keyboard so long e-mails are not great unless you are a demon texter. It has 3.5G as well and is a doddle to set up as your lap top's portable 3.5G modem, so any lengthy e-mails can be done that way. 2 gripes. It uses a lot of battery with all that comms stuff so buy a spare charger for the road. Also, if you like photos, this is pretty lame at 2mp. For me though, this is as close to perfect as it gets!

Battery Issues and remedies (I hope)
The phone still continues to impress but have continued issues with the battery life. To Mobile Fun's credit they are sending me a new battery. I have also spent 50 minutes waiting for Nokia customercare to help me. They strongly advise you switch off 3G unless you need to make a video call, browse the web or use the E51 as a modem for your lap top. At all other times switch to GSM only. You can still make and receive e-mails perfectly happily using Mail for Exchange without 3G. This saves your battery a lot apparently. To switch to GSM mode you do the following: Menu - Tools - Settings - Phone - Network - Network Mode - select GSM mode. Whenever you need to browse the internet, use E51 as a modem or video conference, simply do exactly the same sequence and select Dual Mode from the menu. I will report back whether the combo of new battery from MF and change of settings has impact on battery life. Lets hope so.

The Nokia E51 isn't about showing off. Even if it does look really good, it's about good old fashioned ease of use with fantastic features to boot. Avoid it if you're looking for a high-end camera phone, otherwise definitely consider it |
