The Mio A701 incorporates a SirFStar III GPS receiver, mobile phone and PDA functions into one compact, distinctive product. With the SirfStar III chipset incorporated the Mio A701 is capable of quick, reliable satellite fixes. Tri-Band GSM/GPRS phone functionality ensures that the A701 can be used in most countries and for internet and e-mail access. Windows Mobile 5 is pre-installed and this provides new features including persistent memory and the latest office applications Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Media Player 10.
As seen on screen
With an integrated 1.3 mega and 65,000-colour screen, the A701 comes in handy for taking snapshots as well as looking at them. Images look as vibrant on screen as they are in real life, whilst maps and menus are also bright, crisp and easy to read.
Bluetooth connectivity
Together with a Bluetooth car kit or headset, the Mio A701 allows you to keep your hands safely on the wheel whenever you're on the phone. It automatically switches from navigation to phone mode every time you receive a call, then back again when you hang up. Bluetooth v1.2 offers high transmission speeds and reliable connections: exchange files with colleagues and synchronize contacts with Outlook on your desktop.
Power and portability
The A701 has been designed with portability in mind, but that doesn't mean a compromise on power. The sleek, slim body contains state of the art technology for a surprising high level of performance. A 520 MHz Intel processor is complemented by a built-in 128 MB ROM memory and 64 MB RAM memory. The SD/MMC card slot also allows you to expand the memory, ideal for any music, photo, storage, ebooks and work files that you might like to take along for the journey.
Flexibility at your figertips
The touch screen gives you the flexibility to use different types of input. So it's up to you whether you prefer to enter data with the on-screen keypad or use the handwriting recognition option. User friendly design doesn't stop with the screen. Theres a joystick to help you scroll through and select your options, whilst programmable shortcut buttons will take you directly to whichever application you want to access.
SiRFstar III for fast, accurate positioning
Thanks to the new 'Quick Position' feature, the Mio A701 can predict the likely location of satellites to pick up signals much faster. The highly sensitive SiRFstar III GPS chipset, meanwhile, can receive signals from up to 20 satellites for extremely accurate positioning, even in the toughest terrain. So whether you find yourself in the centre of a city or in the middle of countryside, the A701 makes sure you'll find your way. When it comes to connecting the receiver, you needn't worry about getting in a tangle, because it comes built-in. Slim and sleek, the A701 is the ultimate in compact design, offering pocket-sized portability that's perfect whether you travel on foot, by bike or in your car.
Works both on the road and off it
As long as it runs on the Windows Mobile 5 operating platform, the Mio A701 can support the GPS software of your choice. This means you're no longer restricted as to where and when you can use GPS. Nor do you need different navigation devices depending on the activity you want to use them for. In short, wherever you want to take it, you can. For the road, we recommend Mio Map will guide you to your destination for a perfect, seamless journey every time, with maps of 27 European countries available. But the A701 is equally in its element if you want to go sailing biking, or hiking. Just add your chosen GPS software and go.
